With seven designers left, the judges turned the heat up a notch. This week’s episode was a test of skill and knowledge. Starting with the mini-challenge, designers were quizzed on seven legendary designers. Anna won, outshining the competition with her knowledge of fashion history.
Just when the designers thought they would be given a fresh start for the elimination challenge, the judges had something else up their sleeves. They announced the designers had to create an outfit inspired by a fashion designer icon that would also allow their signature styles to come through. As the winner of the mini-challenge, Anna got to pick a legendary designer for each contestant – leaving some scrambling for ideas.
When it came time for elimination, Haven and Reco found themselves in the bottom two. Even though his choice of color was right on the mark, Reco’s interpretation of Halston’s styles showed his lack of knowledge. Haven had a strong grasp of Yves Saint Laurent’s history, but judges found her brown suit lacking in inspiration. In the end, the judges sent Haven home in a teary goodbye.
The audience absolutely adored Daniella’s Christian Dior-inspired pantsuit but it was Johnny’s show-stopping Versace-esque dress that stole guest judge Peter Som’s heart. Judges praised Johnny on creating a flawless look from the polished pony to the gold stilettos and named him the challenge winner.
Even if Haven’s design didn’t make the cut, the hair however, was amazing. For salon-perfect hair that can stand up to any competition, go to:

We’re not worthy! This was my favorite episode by far, honoring the greats. It’s all about the classics. The legends. The fashion icons. This is what a designer aspires to be.
Elimination is getting tough, now that’s down to the final seven. All are talented designers and deserve a second chance (insert Reco’s pleading tears). Johnny’s design was by far my favorite, and actually could see myself wearing it. The sexy, toughness of Versace was apparent and his choice of materials made it modern, contemporary and just plain edgy. And as Fern Mallis noted, the model’s hair perfectly completed his winning look, thanks toTRESemmé.
I loved Johnny's dress! Not sure how I feel about the tears, they never do much for me. Maybe I'm just a cold hearted fashion freak.
